The Riebeek Valley Olive Festival

In celebration of a good olive harvest, twin Swartland towns Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West host the popular annual Riebeek Valley Olive Festival. Nestled at the foot of the Kasteelberg Mountain, the valley, known for its array of fine produce, comes alive and opens its doors to the outside world. Experience an abundance of olives, wine, craft beer and good food. There is no other place to be on the first weekend in May than right here, with us, in the Riebeek Valley.
The Riebeek Valley Olive Festival first started in 2000, and has grown to become one of the most popular lifestyle festivals in the Western Cape, and is the largest Olive Festival in the country. The Valley is home to some of the country’s top olive producers, as well as two Italian-trained olive-oil graders, so you’ll be in the company of experts.

If you are an olive enthusiast, then this is the only place to be. Award-winning olive oils, olives, tapenades and soaps are one of the many olive products available in the valley.  Olives and olive products are stocked at the Olive Boutique, Kloovenburg Estate, Het Vlock Casteel, Allesverloren and at Aitsa shop.
No lifestyle festival is complete without a selection of good wine.  The wineries and local cellars in the Riebeek Valley, will not disappoint. Try some unique and sought after local wines from the Swartland terroir. Visit Meerhof, Kloovenburg, Het Vlock Kasteel, Allesverloren, Pulpit Rock and The Riebeek Valley Wine Co, for delicious wines or enjoy a craft beer tasting at The Flagship Brew.
The Riebeek Valley is known for its fine array of award winning eateries offering a variety of culinary experiences.  Indulge your taste buds at Mama Cucina, Kasteelberg Bistro, La Parrilla, The Old Dalby, Pleasant Pheasant or the beautiful and historic Royal Hotel – you are sure to not be disappointed.
In true hospitable Swartland style, visitors will be welcomed and entertained at all participating wineries and venues. Each venue has a different flavour and selection of products and also offers a festival vibe with stalls, live music and entertainment for the little ones, so bring them along too! Other activities and events for the Olive Festival include guided walks in the olive groves, craft-beer tasting, wine tasting, tractor rides, an abundance of great food at the venues and the restaurants, village markets and a multitude of live music.
