Babylon's Peak Private Cellar @ Paardeberg
Babylon's Peak is a boutique private cellar, nestled on the slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain. Some of the highest vineyards in the Swartland region can be found here. The old cellar was in production until 1948, after which grapes were delivered to a co-operative cellar.
This private cellar focuses on Rhône-style cultivars such as Mourvédre, Grenache and Viognier. Winemaker Stephan, believes that the Chenin Blanc and Shiraz are the Paardeberg’s iron cultivars. Perhaps there is some truth in this as the Chenin Blanc snapped up the Veritas gold award for three harvests in a row. Some of their wines which include; Babylon's Peak Private Cellar Chenin Blanc, Babylon's Peak Private Cellar Shiraz, Babylon's Peak Private Cellar Viognier and Babylon's Peak Private Cellar Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz. |
