Pulpit Rock Winery @ Riebeek West
Location: Riebeek West
The Brink family has been farming on the two farms De Gift and Panorama near Riebeek West for more than five decades. In 2003 they decided to build their very own winery in the foothills of the beautiful Kasteelberg. The winery was named Pulpit Rock, referring to a rock formation resembling a pulpit on the slopes of the mountain.
The first vintage was produced in 2004 and Pulpit Rock Winery opened its doors to the public in October of the same year. Magnificent views and personalised service add to the unique experience in this stylish wine-tasting centre. Pulpit Rock Winery is truly a family concern, with patriarch Ernst Brink the backbone of the business, while his sons Van der Byl and Haumann see to the day-to-day running of the farms and cellar. Their efforts are complemented by the winemaking skills of Dewald Huisamen. The grapes are selected meticulously and harvested fully ripe to achieve optimum quality, including good structure and prominent fruit. The state-of-the-art cellar has an overall production capacity of 5000 tonnes, with two barrel-maturation cellars. A combination of the latest equipment and traditional techniques are used to create world-class wines. Pulpit Rock Winery offers visitors informal tours in the pressing and maturing cellars. The winery also boasts a function venue with beautiful views of the Valley. Opening Hours Monday - Friday: 09h00 - 17h00 Saturday: 10h00 - 14h00 |
